Sunday lunch for homeless and disadvantaged people
|
Sunday Lunches for the Homeless Each Sunday, immediately after the morning service, from 11.45 to 12.30, we welcome homeless and disadvantaged people to a free lunch in the church.
The lunch usually consists of soup and filled rolls, followed by tea/coffee and biscuits/cakes. There has been a good response since we started the lunches in March 2006 and we now usually provide food for 20 or more people. Most of these unfortunate people have nowhere to go at all on a Sunday and they are very glad to find friendship, hospitality and a meal served with a smile.
If you would like to volunteer to help in any way, please contact the church office. Or if you would just like to welcome these people with a smile and a friendly handshake, then please stay for a while after the morning service. If you would like to make a donation to this part of our ministry over and above your reular giving to the church, please pass your gift on to Barbara Darby our Treasurer, or to one of the Churchwardens.
